A generalized list of guidelines for beginning bloggers.
- Personal information should never be shared, whether it's your full name, school, address, age or birthdate.
- Think about that anyone could see your post even if you delete it.
- Do not post profanity or anything that could get you in trouble in a school setting.
- Avoid posting inappropriate pictures of ones' self. Whether it's a yourself, a friend, or a not so friendly figure, it can greatly have an effect on a person. If you're "throwing up" a provocative sign it's probably not the greatest idea to post the photo online.
- Only use well known/trusted blogging provider websites.
- When posting a topic try keeping away from offensive topics.
- Also avoid posting criticizing opinions such as "that movie was terrible" because you may offend a reader.
- Avoid starting fights using blogs, because what's posted online is permanent and what you say may greatly affect ones' reputation.
- One shouldn't talk about his/her plans involving public places like the mall, bowling alleys or amusement parks.
- Always take time to check over spelling and grammar mistakes. One mistake may be your last.
When blogging one should remember that what you say on the internet is forever even if deleted. Remember, even on the internet to be courteous of others' feelings, you do not want to offend the wrong person.
